Going through a traumatic event can greatly impact your life, whether it changes how you see yourself, other people,or the world, or makes it more difficult for you to engage in your life.

If you notice any of the following symptoms in yourself, you may have a trauma disorder and could see benefits from treatment:

- Recurring memories or dreams of the traumatic event
- Flashbacks of the trauma, or feeling as if it is happening  again
- Physical signs of stress when exposed to reminders of the trauma
- Avoiding reminders of the experience (e.g., avoiding certain people, places, or things)
- Avoiding thoughts or feelings related to the trauma
- Being easily startled
- Feeling tense or on edge
- Changes in sleep
- Changes in concentration
- Feeling irritable or acting aggressively
- Being more impulsive or risky
- Negative thoughts about oneself or the world
- Trouble remembering the trauma
- Intense feelings of guilt, shame, anger, or fear
- Difficulty experiencing positive emotions
- Social isolation
- Not enjoying things you used to enjoy
